Power Restored After Outages Affect Thousands in Fort St. John

Thousands of residents in Fort St. John faced significant disruptions early in the morning as power outages swept through the city, leaving many without electricity. BC Hydro reported these incidents on December 5, with the first outage occurring at approximately 8:56 a.m. This blackout affected an estimated 4,268 customers in a region defined by boundaries that include south of 115th Avenue, west of 78th Street, north of 81st Street, and east of 99th Avenue.

Shortly after, at 9:39 a.m., a second power outage was reported, impacting an additional 1,147 customers. This second disturbance affected areas east of 98th Street, north of 102nd Avenue, west of 112th Avenue, and south of 118A Avenue. Crews were quickly dispatched to address both outages, and by 11:40 a.m., BC Hydro announced that power had been successfully restored across the affected zones.
