South Dakota’s defense has continued to improve over the course of the season

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) – The South Dakota Coyotes are in Macon Georgia preparing for a second round matchup with the Mercer Bears, a 7th seed coming off of a bye.

Mercer has scored 35+ points in their last eight wins.

The Yotes are giving up about 26 points per game but their defense continued to improve throughout the season, allowing 21 to the Fighting Hawks, 17 to South Dakota State and Drake.

The Bulldogs scored more than half of their points in the first half.

Travis Johansen, USD football’s head coach said, “Defensively, played a much better second half. Two scores in the first half, and our ones shut them out in the second half with much better play and some critical stops certainly on fourth down with two turnovers on downs so all in all good performance from those two units.”

Kickoff from Macon Georgia is at 11am central time on Saturday, we’ll have the highlights on KSFY and KDLT tomorrow at 10pm.
