Manchester City have put themselves in the thick of the Premier League title race with five successive wins and that is bad news for Nottingham Forest, who have been struggling with inconsistency in the last few weeks.
A 1-0 loss at Fulham followed the Tricky Trees’ 3-0 victory over Tottenham and a repeat of March’s 1-0 victory over the rampant Citizens would be just the ticket as they look to create even more space between themselves and the bottom three.

Nottingham Forest vs Man City preview
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola warned his players that they would be dropped if they tipped the post-Christmas scales following any seasonal over-indulgence.
However, recent results will have left him in no doubt that his charges are ready to push their weight around in what looks like being an enthralling Premier League title race.
While leaders Arsenal, whose cushion has been reduced to two points, have needed two own goals to get past basement boys Wolves and a penalty to win 1-0 at Everton since they were beaten by Aston Villa, the third interested party at the top, City’s progress can only be described as majestic.
They are firing on all cylinders and 17 goals in their last five league games looks an intimidating statistic for Nottingham Forest to comprehend as they prepare to host the Citizens.
And it is not just a case of trying to keep a tab on Erling Haaland either, not that it is an easy task.
The Norwegian scored 13 of City’s first 20 league goals of the season, but his teammates are now getting in on the act and it is frightening what could be about to come given the Nordic goal-machine has netted just five of the Citizens’ last 17 goals.
Phil Foden’s impact has been particularly noticeable – the England star has scored six goals in his last five games – and, even without the injured Jeremy Doku, City’s forward threat is immense.
Forest plainly have their work cut out and this contest looks set to be the polar opposite of their last City Ground outing against Tottenham, who may have done just as well had they stayed on the bus.
Sean Dyche’s team dominated Spurs throughout and recorded a richly deserved 3-0 success, although the Tricky Trees have struggled with inconsistency, as they again demonstrated in Monday’s 1-0 reverse at Fulham.
That said, a 2-0 loss to Brighton is Forest’s only blip on the banks of the Trent since Dyche replaced Ange Postecoglou and the Tricky Trees have scored at least twice in six of their seven home games since the Australian’s departure, which suggests they could do better than City’s last four domestic opponents and make a contribution to the scoreline.
Goals look likely but it is hard to argue against the majority of them coming for City, which should help bring a smile to Guardiola’s face.
Lots of chasing around for Anderson
It could prove to be a busy afternoon for Forest’s Elliot Anderson, who will be hoping a strong second half of the season will punch his ticket to be in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the World Cup.
He should relish the chance to prove himself against one of the best teams around but that could work against a player who has picked up three bookings this term and committed three fouls in three of his last four appearances.
Gvardiol could prove a threat
While Erling Haaland grabs most of the glory up front for City, defender Josko Gvardiol is an interesting proposition to get on the City Ground scoresheet.
The Croatian centre-back has scored twice in the league this season, popping up with goals in home matches against Leeds and Sunderland, and after having three attempts against West Ham last week, he could be in the right place at the right time again.

Phil Foden anytime goalscorer
The England star drew a blank against West Ham last week but he had netted six goals in four games prior to City’s 3-0 victory over the Hammers.
Igor Jesus to have two or more shots
The Brazilian striker has scored just one league goal this season but he has had at least two efforts on goal in each of his last eight appearances for Forest.
Under 5.5 Man City corners
City average 7.33 corners in home league matches but that figure slumps to 3.63 per outing when they are away from the Etihad.
