Strictly Come Dancing star Vicky Pattison was over the moon with her score on Saturday and her message from Cheryl

There were two huge shocks for Vicky Pattison on Saturday night’s Strictly Come Dancing, when she first got an ’emotional’ message of support from Geordie icon Cheryl and then got her first 9 of the series. And amid all her excitement, fans declared they are now getting ‘winner’ vibes from the Newcastle born star.
Since she was riddled with nerves during this year’s launch show, revealing that she ‘came close to a panic attack’ backstage, Vicky has come on leaps and bounds, with her scores going up as well. Last week, the former I’m A Celebrity winner and pro partner Kai Widdrington were over the moon as they got their first 8 from Anton Du Beke for their samba to Madonna’s La Isla Bonita, before it was revealed during the results show that Vicky would be transforming into Girls Aloud legend Cheryl for Icons Week.
The reveal that she’d be doing a Couple’s Choice to Cheryl’s debut number 1 Fight for this Love sent fans into overdrive and, on Saturday night, she dressed exactly like Cheryl in her famous X Factor performance from 2009, with her and Kai in contrasting red and black military uniforms as they took on a street dance inspired routine. All four judges were quickly in agreement that the dance was Vicky’s best so far, with Motsi Mabuse, saying she could tell Vicky ‘loved’ the song and the dance, adding that her conviction and commitment made it her best so far.

In agreement, Shirley loved the co-ordination between Vicky and Kai and how synchronized they were throughout. Anton said he was loving Vicky’s ‘journey’ on the show, with him ending the critiques by remarking that the first step down was ‘slightly out of sync’ and adding that Vicky didn’t match Kai’s energy. Finishing on a positive note, the hard to please critic did say the routine was ‘clean, tight and precise’ though and agreed it was her best to date.
After chatting to host Claudia Winkleman, Vicky then got a huge surprise when Cheryl appeared on screen and began her message by saying that she thought Vicky was ‘doing amazing’ and she was ‘honoured’ she’d chosen to dance to her track. She added: ‘I know you’ve got it in you, because you’re a Geordie. So go out there and fight for your place and I’ll be rooting for you.”
Still on a high from her message from Cheryl, Vicky then had another reason to smile, when she and Kai got an impressive 33 out of 40 for their Couple’s Choice, just as fans made the call she was a ‘dead cert’ for the final. Backing her to go even further, one viewer took to X to post: ”m between Vicky Pattison and Alex Kingston to win.’
