Olympiakos beats AEK, but PAOK stays on top

Olympiakos defeated visiting AEK at Sunday’s derby to keep up the pressure on Super League leader PAOK, that also won at home.

PAOK maintained its one-point lead at the top as it downed Volos 3-0 in Toumba, thanks to Giorgos Giakoumakis’ opener and Magomed Ozdoev’s brace, all goals coming in the second half.

On the debut of storied manager Rafa Benitez on the Panathinaikos bench, the Greens defeated bottom team Asteras Tripolis 2-0.

A Karol Swiderski penalty kick and a Julian Chicco own goal helped the former Liverpool coach start off with a warm applause by the Panathinaikos fans.

In other weekend games, Levadiakos drew 1-1 with Aris, Larissa scored its first win, beating Panserraikos 2-0 away, and Atromitos forced the dismissal of OFI manager Milan Rastavac with its 3-1 victory in Crete.
