Speaking on BBC Radio 3’s Private Passions, the 45-year-old revealed he turned to Beethoven music to ask now-wife Becka to marry him.
Nick shared: “When I proposed to Becka and this is ten years ago now, I heard one of her favourite moments is the second movement of the Fifth Symphony.
“It’s the slow movement and I thought, ‘Well, maybe I can track down this music’.
“So I tracked down this music and just about figured out my part on the piano.

“So when I proposed, I actually presented just this music and said, ‘Oh let’s just play this, I’ve been practicing it’.
“And then on the last page it said, ‘Would you marry me?’ So Beethoven, the Symphonic works, just feel really special for that reason as well.”
With the clip shared on Instagram, one fan commented: “I did not think it was possible to love this man any more than we already do, and then….. PROTECT HIM AT ALL COSTS!!!”
Another added: “Oh how gorgeous is this proposal. So unique and special to them.”
Nick and Becka tied the knot in 2014 and met each other at Durham University.
The couple welcomed three children together with the eldest, Finn, making a guest appearance alongside Nick on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
Meanwhile, the Celebrity Traitors final is hitting screens in a matter of hours – with fans desperate to find out how the series concludes.
Joining Nick for the final showdown are fellow Faithfuls, retired rugby star Joe Marler and historian David Olusoga.
They are up against the remaining Traitor duo, comedian Alan Carr and singer Cat Burns.
Ahead of the official BBC airing, the entire final episode leaked online – with the result revealed by fans.
Crave in Canada uploaded the episode yesterday evening (UK time).
Hundreds of people watched it and outlined the final episode, detailing exactly how it goes down, much to the shock of fans who are waiting for it to land on the BBC on Thursday night.
The Sun has chosen not to spoil the result for viewers.
A Canadian fan of the show told The Sun: “I have been watching Celebrity Traitors through Crave all season long.
“Having not realised that the finale was airing tomorrow [in the UK], I logged on this afternoon and found it available.
“It was only brought to my attention part-way through by a friend outside of Canada that the finale isn’t scheduled to air tomorrow [Thurs in the UK].”
The Sun understands that the episode was taken down from the streaming service after 90 minutes, but not before hundreds of fans watched it and detailed exactly what happened in the finale.
One fan commented: “It was really good.”
Fans in New Zealand also had a chance to watch the finale early as it was streaming on ThreeNow, which is the streaming site for Channel 3, where the BBC show airs in New Zealand.
The Sun has reached out to Crave for comment.
