‘It’s Mo-Time!’; Movember 2025 campaign kicks off

The hairiest time of year is at hand, as the Movember campaign officially launches for another year.

The annual fundraiser sees close to 50,000 Canadians taking part in raising funds for men’s physical and mental health by growing out a moustache during the month of November.

The campaign first started in Canada in 2007, after beginning in Australia in 2003. According to Movember Canada, close to $300 million has been raised in that time for men’s health, including $110 million for prostate cancer.

Todd Minerson, the Country Director for Movember Canada, said several new funding investments have been made in Ontario and Canada, including “The Real Face of Men’s Health” report.

“We’ve also been funding mental health and suicide prevention work with young men, indigenous men’s health across the country and helping men who are living with prostate cancer beyond their diagnosis and after their cancer has been cured,” he said.

During the 2024 campaign, $268,633 was raised in Waterloo Region between 533 fundraisers.

Minerson said that everyone can get involved in the campaign, and growing a moustache is not required. Supporters can host events, raise money or commit to physical fitness, such as walking, biking or swimming.

“We suggest aiming for 60 km in the month of November; this helps represent the one man we lose every minute of every hour to suicide,” Minerson said.
