Major recall of Aldi Ireland chocolate treat with ‘do not eat’ warning

A ‘do not eat’ warning has been issued by Aldi Ireland over one of their top chocolate treats.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has recalled the Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s, which are available in Aldi locations around the country.
Despite not being declared in the list of ingredients, it has been warned that peanuts may be present in ‘all batches’ of the item.

This means that the product could be inedible for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of peanuts.
It has been advised that those who suffer from an allergy should not consume the product.
The FSAI stated: ‘Peanuts may be present in all batches of Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s however they are not declared in the list of ingredients.

This comes only a few days after a popular batch of wine was also recalled. The FSAI issued an alert on Friday for Vale View Schuyler Irish Grown Red Wine 2023.
The bottle is sold in multiple outlets across Ireland. It was found to contain sulphur dioxide, which is not listed in the ingredients.
Sulphur dioxide is a commonly used preservative. The FSAI urged anyone allergic or intolerant to sulphur dioxide to avoid the wine and stop drinking it immediately.
They said: ‘The above batch of Vale View Schuyler Irish Grown Red Wine contains sulphur dioxide, which is not declared in the list of ingredients.
‘This may make the batch unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of sulphur dioxide, and therefore, these consumers should not drink the implicated batch. The affected batch is being recalled.’
The affected batch code is 2023Sch01.
Those who are allergic or intolerant to sulphur dioxide might experience symptoms including headaches, wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath, skin rashes, hives or nausea.
In some severe cases, it can trigger an asthma attack or other severe reactions.
