New York Jets Trading Garrett Wilson To Denver Broncos

The New York Jets are having an absolute fire-sale, and despite already trading Quinnen Williams and Sauce Gardner, there are three more players that could be traded in Jermaine Johnson, Breece Hall, and Garrett Wilson.

Looking at a potential landing spot, obviously the Pittsburgh Steelers are another team looking for a receiver, but the Denver Broncos could be a sneaky one.

THIS IS A PREDICTION, NOT A REPORT.

Why the Broncos Could Be Buyers

Denver currently has a promising quarterback in place and offensive pieces that are trending up, but the passing game still lacks a true elite alpha at wide receiver who can consistently win one-on-one and demand attention. Adding Wilson would deliver:

  • A dynamic WR with elite speed and route-running ability who can stretch defenses and open up the run and play-action game.

  • A signal to the league and fanbase that Denver is not waiting—this roster is being built to win now.

  • A weapon that helps balance the offense and enhances the value of other pieces (tight ends, run game, emerging receivers) by forcing defenses to respect multiple threats.

And given that the Jets seem to be in a transition mode (see below), the Broncos may find the market for Wilson more approachable than it may have been a year ago. A trade now could keep Denver ahead of the curve rather than waiting for the next big receiver sweepstakes.

Why the Jets Might Consider Moving Him

The New York Jets’ decision-making over the past few days has strongly indicated a shift in organizational direction—from short-term contention to a full-scale reset. First, they traded star cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Indianapolis Colts, securing two first-round picks in return.

  • The Jets may view Wilson as one of their few remaining premium assets with maximum trade value.

  • His contract and age make him attractive to contending teams but also maybe more “tradable” now before the next contract blowup or diminished value.

  • A trade would yield immediate draft capital, helping New York accelerate a rebuild and reduce the burden of large upcoming extensions.

For the Jets, the question becomes: Do you hold onto Wilson as the centerpiece of a rebuild (which may take years) or trade him while his value is high for multiple picks or younger assets? The recent pattern suggests the latter is very plausible.

The Impact of the Trade

If the Broncos pull off a deal for Garrett Wilson, it could meaningfully shift their trajectory. Offenses that target elite receivers often see upticks in explosive plays and third-down efficiency; Wilson could be that type of difference-maker. It would also send a message to—and about—the franchise: we are building to win now.

Conversely, for the Jets, trading Wilson would underscore a full pivot. The team would be accepting that the current roster is not working and that the future will be built through the draft and younger talent. While painful for fans, it may be the pragmatic move.

If executed, this trade would reshape both teams: Denver jumping ahead in the competitive cycle and New York leaning into a rebuild with premium draft capital.
