The Detroit Pistons may get Cade Cunningham back in time for their second NBA Cup game.

Cunningham, who missed the 124-113 win over the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, Nov. 12, with a left hip contusion, has been upgraded to questionable ahead of Friday’s home game against the Philadelphia 76ers (7:30 p.m., FanDuel Sports Network Detroit). Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart have also been upgraded to questionable after missing time with right and left ankle sprains, respectively.

The Pistons will still be shorthanded, though – Ausar Thompson (right ankle sprain), Tobias Harris (right ankle sprain), Jaden Ivey and Marcus Sasser remain out. The latter two have yet to make their season debuts. Friday will be Thompson’s third straight absence, Harris’ seventh straight and Stewart’s fourth (if he’s ruled out).

Cunningham was listed as questionable on Wednesday but was ruled out shortly before opening tip, his first absence this season. He suffered a hard fall late in the fourth quarter against the Washington Wizards on Monday after Cam Whitmore fouled him during a dunk attempt. Against the Wizards, Cunningham made a brief trip to the locker room, then returned and played out the remainder of the quarter and overtime.

He finished with a career-high 46 points (on a franchise-high 45 shot attempts), 12 rebounds, 11 assists, five steals and just two turnovers in 45 minutes to lead the Pistons to a 137-135 OT win.

Duren was also listed as questionable and then ruled out before Wednesday’s game. Both Duren and Cunningham had appeared in all 11 games thus far and are the team’s leading scorers during their 10-2 start, the franchise’s best since the 2005-06 season. Cunningham is averaging 27.5 points, 9.9 assists, 5.4 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game, while Duren is averaging 19.4 points, 12 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals.

Jaden Ivey is nearing his four-week re-evaluation date following arthroscopic surgery Oct. 16 on his right knee. Marcus Sasser is at least three weeks away from his re-evaluation date as he rehabs a left hip impingement.

The Pistons pulled off an improbable win over the Bulls without Cunningham, Duren and half of their rotation, extending their winning streak to eight games. Paul Reed (28 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and four steals) and two-way guard Daniss Jenkins (18 points, 12 assists and two blocks) were among the players who stepped up.A win Friday would mark the franchise’s longest win streak since winning 10 straight during the 2007-08 season.

The Pistons are 1-0 in NBA Cup group play after blowing out the Brooklyn Nets on the road on Nov. 7, 125-107.
