Jack Catterall vs Ekow Essuman predictions
There’s a strong undercard before tonight’s main event between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn and the Tottenham tussles can deliver two value plays.
Jack Catterall’s domestic dust-up with Ekow Essuman is certainly the most interesting fight on the card and there may be a shock result.
Recent controversial decisions handed to Reece Bellotti, Troy Jones, and Zach Parker temper enthusiasm when it comes to punting on boxing, and particularly when backing away fighters at big prices, but Essuman has to rate a bet at 15-8.
Catterall has high-profile bouts against Josh Taylor, Regis Prograis, Arnold Barboza Jr and Harlem Eubank on his record, but the Chorley fighter has been well matched and he appears an overrated performer.
The 32-year-old hardly dazzled in victories over domestic-level performers Tyrone McKenna and Ohara Davies and El Gato’s cautious style looks tailor-made for an upset.
Essuman has to be fancied to outwork, outland and be on the front foot against Catterall, and that appears a path to success.
The Nottingham man scored the biggest victory of his career against Taylor in May, the 36-year-old is in the form of his life and Essuman is fancied to land another highlight win in north London.
Richard Riakporhe v Tommy Welch predictions
Richard Riakporhe contests just his second heavyweight bout in a ten-round contest against Tommy Welch.
The 35-year-old was short of the top-level as a cruiserweight and it’s difficult to see where the success is going to come from in the big-hitting division.
Of course, the Midnight Train could steam past Welch tonight, and it’s tricky to evaluate what level the Brighton boxer can reach, but Riakporhe is undoubtedly one of the most overrated fighter’s in the sport
A victory over a then 37-year-old Krzysztof Glowacki is the best success on the Walworth warrior’s card and the Londoner was comfortably outpointed by Chris Billam-Smith last year.
Riakporhe has never been a busy fighter, with a high workrate and the move to the heavyweight division at the age of 35 could make the Londoner even more sluggish.
Welch has plenty to prove in the biggest fight of his career, but the 3-1 on offer about the contest going to full ten rounds is far too big.
Adam Azim v Kurt Scoby predictions
Top super-lightweight prospect Adam Azim should make light work of Kurt Scoby but that has been accurately reflected in the prices.
If anything, the Assassin is taking a step down in class from February’s success over Sergey Lipinets and it’s no surprise to see the Brit 4-9 for a stoppage success.
Sam Gilley vs Ishmael Davis predictions
Sam Gilley will have a home Tottenham crowd on his side when the Walthamstow man challenges Ishmael Davis for the British and Commonwealth super-welterweight titles.
Gilley is an interesting outsider but the performance when drawing with Gideon Onyenani at Portman Road in June raises enough questions to turn down the offers of 11-4.
Davis has lost three of his last four contests, but they have come against top-level performers in Serhii Bohachuk, Josh Kelly and Caoimhin Agyarko.
The Black Panther’s unanimous-decision victory over Troy Williamson last year is form worthy of a British and Commonwealth champion and Davis is the right favourite.
