Danny DeVito’s real age baffles as fans say they ‘thought he was 60’

Fans of Danny DeVito have been left stunned after discovering the actor’s true age as he celebrates his 81st birthday on November 17.
While Danny initially worked as a cosmetologist in a morgue, styling hair for the deceased, he has since transformed into an A-list star, celebrated for his extensive catalogue of memorable performances across film and television.
His acting journey began with off-Broadway productions in 1969, before landing his first film role in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest in 1975, having previously appeared in the off-Broadway adaptation of the same production four years prior.
His breakthrough came with the beloved television series Taxi in 1978, portraying dispatcher Louie De Palma. The performance secured him both an Emmy and a Golden Globe award. This marked the beginning of his screen stardom, as he focused on a film career.
His fame is undeniable, with fams now recognising the star from his extensive filmography and television work, featuring Matilda, Batman Returns, and the hit comedy series It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
On a Reddit discussion forum dedicated to the comedy show, one member posted an image of the performer, noting the photograph captured the actor as he reached his 80s.
The Reddit post stated “Danny DeVito at age of 80s,” accompanied by a monochrome photograph of the star gazing upwards past the camera lens. While the post was seemingly a birthday tribute to the actor, fans were quick to express their surprise at Danny’s real age, with many believing him to be 20 years younger.
“He looks great,” one fan penned, while another exclaimed: “I thought he was 60! Damn he’s doing good.
“He looks 65 at 80,” chimed in another, with a fellow user agreeing: “Yes he has aged well.”
Another follower couldn’t hide their shock, commenting: “Omg can’t believe that.”
As Danny celebrates his 81st birthday in 2025, there seems to be no sign of him hanging up his acting boots. He continues to be a key part of the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia cast, where he portrays Frank Reynolds.
He also starred in the 2024 film Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and made guest appearances on recent episodes of TV shows Rick and Morty, and Abbott Elementary.
Despite some fans’ concerns about his potential retirement, Danny has previously stated he has no intention of ever retiring from his career.
In a 2018 interview with the Press Association about possible retirement, Danny simply stated: “I am not going to retire. Actors don’t… do actors retire? Maybe they do. I have never heard of an actor retiring.”
