Eurovision 2026: First Details on Tickets, Postcards, and Volunteers

Today, ORF, the host broadcaster for the Eurovision Song Contest 2026, released a detailed update on preparations for the event, including ticket sales, volunteer recruitment, and creative elements for the show’s Postcards.
Innovative Postcard Designs
Gebhardt Productions is tasked with crafting the Postcards, which will serve as a blend of analogue and digital experiences. Each Postcard begins with artists viewing an Austrian scene from their home country before being transported into Austria’s picturesque landscapes. These Postcards will be available as physical collectibles, providing fans with a unique souvenir. The filming commenced in October, aiming to capture Austria’s diverse seasons, and pays tribute to the first ‘correspondence card‘ sent from Austria-Hungary in 1869.
Ticketing Process and Volunteer Call
ORF anticipates high demand for the Eurovision 2026 shows, implementing a multi-stage ticketing system to ensure fair and secure access. The process begins with a registration phase starting November 24, designed to prevent bot purchases and commercial resale. Only those following the official procedure will secure valid tickets.
In addition, ORF is recruiting up to 800 volunteers to support the event from May 1 to May 17. Volunteers will assist at various locations, including the Media Centre, Information Desks, Eurovision Village, and the airport. Applications are open to motivated adults with diverse interests and proficiency in German and English.
Commitment to Sustainability and Inclusion
ORF aims to host an environmentally friendly Eurovision by adhering to ‘Green Event‘ and ‘Green Producing‘ standards. The emphasis is on minimizing the CO₂ footprint through energy-efficient lighting, sustainable procurement, and effective waste management. The Wiener Stadthalle will utilize its photovoltaic system for power, and only eco-certified catering will be employed.
Accessibility is integral, with plans for music signing in International Sign Language, subtitles, and audio descriptions to cater to all audiences. The 2015 contest set a precedent for accessibility, and ORF plans to continue these efforts for 2026.
General Director Roland Weißmann highlighted the significance of the 70th Eurovision Song Contest, focusing on unity and creating memorable experiences. ORF aims to inspire Europe and deliver a festival that celebrates inclusivity and environmental responsibility.
