Major airline drops enormous sale

Qantas has launched its massive Travel Week sale, with more than 1.5 million discounted flights available across its domestic and international network.

Just in time for the holidays, Qantas is slashing fares to more than 130 routes, with prices starting at $99 one-way and more than 65 flights under $200.

Launching on Wednesday for one week, some of the destinations include economy return flights from Sydney to Los Angeles for $999, Melbourne to Denpasar for $559 and Brisbane to Honolulu for $929.

The flight sale comes at the perfect time for Aussies planing to spend their holidays away from home, with many events unfolding worldwide, including sporting and music events in Los Angeles in February as well as Chinese New Year celebrations in Singapore in February and March.

For those itching to travel for school holidays, the sale spans domestic one-way routes, including flights from Sydney to Ballina for as low as $99, while residents in Melbourne can head to Newcastle for $135, and flights from Perth to Sydney are $319.

All fares in the Qantas sale, which ends on Tuesday December 2 at 11.59pm, unless sold out prior, include checked baggage and complimentary in-flight food and beverages.

Additionally, between December 4 and 10, Qantas Frequent Flyer members will earn double points on eligible hotel and holiday bookings made through Qantas Hotels and Holidays.

Members will receive six points for every dollar spent on all domestic Qantas Hotels and Holidays bookings during the sale period, excluding Airbnbs and Qantas Tours.

Qantas Domestic chief executive Markus Svensson said the sale offered Aussies the chance to book a getaway, be it overseas or domestically.

“Whether it’s popular destinations like Bali or exploring closer to home, Australians are continuing to prioritise travel and we’re seeing strong interest in destinations like the US for high-profile sports, music and cultural events,” he said.

“Domestically, we’re offering sale fares on some of our most popular routes, including Adelaide to Sydney, Brisbane to Cairns and Melbourne and on flights to popular holiday destinations across the Gold Coast, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia.”
