It’s time for Basketball: Spurs vs Memphis Grizzlies

Welcome to the Game Thread. Veterans of the Game Thread know how we do things around here, but for all you newbies we have a few rules. Our community guidelines apply and basically say be cool, no personal attacks, don’t troll and don’t swear too much.
The Spurs last faced the Grizzlies two weeks ago, where the Silver and Black won 111-101 with a solid 26 point performance from De’Aaron Fox with solid performances from Harrison Barnes and Keldon Johnson. Cedric Coward had a nice game for the Grizzlies while Zach Edey was kept mostly under control with just 8 points and 11 rebounds. Edey has been on a tear recently, coming off of a game where he scored 32 points, with 17 rebounds and 5 blocks. If he can put up those kind of numbers tonight, it could be a bad night for the Silver and Black.

The Spurs are coming off of a 4 game road trip that was mostly up, with NBA Cup wins over the Nuggets and Trail Blazers, securing a spot in the knockout tournament that will begin on December 10 with a game in Los Angeles against the Lakers. The trip ended on a sour note when the Spurs ran out of gas in the fourth quarter against the Timberwolves and were stranded by the side of the road watching Minnesota drain uncontested three pointers with as the Timberpups surged to an easy 125-112 win.
The Spurs are better at home (10-2) than on the road (5-4), but tonight’s game is the worst of the worst, as far as scheduling back-to-back games go: After the end of tonight’s game, the team has to leave for a game tomorrow night (early 6:00 CT tipoff) against Orlando. Not only is it a long flight, the trip from the Orlando airport to the arena/team accommodations is pretty long, adding to the travel time. I would expect Mitch to rest some players tonight or Wednesday to avoid fatigue issues, so it could be another chance for David Jones Garcia to get NBA minutes in one of the games. The NBA season is a grind, and this particular back-to-back is peak grindiness.
Game Prediction:
Carter Bryant will be assigned to cover Zach Edey, and will confuse him by running around him three times while he’s trying to post up, which results in a turnover as Zach spins around to follow the motion and travels.
