A diversion route is in place after a multi-vehicle collision on the M11 near Harlow. The motorway is closed southbound between J7 (Harlow) and J6 (M25) due to the collision.

It was reported to have occurred at 10.20am on Thursday (December 4). Two cars and a van are involved in the collision, with the carriageway closed to allow the emergency services to work safely at the scene.

National Highways Traffic Officers are also on scene, providing assistance with traffic management. Emergency services in Essex have been contacted for further information.

Drivers are being advised to follow a solid circle diversion symbol to avoid the collision area. It will see vehicles exit the M11 southbound at J7 onto Hastingwood Interchange.

At the interchange, take the second exit at the roundabout onto the A414 London Road (signposted Harlow). Continue on the A414 for 10.5 miles until the A10 interchange.

At the interchange, take the first exit onto the A10 southbound (signposted Hoddesdon/Cheshunt/London). Continue for seven miles until the M25 interchange.

At the roundabout, take the first exit to join the M25 anti-clockwise. Continue until J27 and then take the second exit to re-join the M11 southbound at J6.

A spokesperson for National Highways said: “If this closure impacts on your planned route, please allow extra journey time. Plan ahead, you may wish to re-route or even delay your journey.
