Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau meet former Japanese prime minister

Justin Trudeau and Katy Perry met the former prime minister of Japan and his wife for lunch for their first diplomatic date as a couple.
Sharing a picture of the two couples standing in front of a Christmas tree, Fumio Kishida said the former Canadian prime minister “visited Japan with his partner and joined my wife and me for lunch”.
Perry, 41, wore a matching khaki mini skirt and jacket over a black turtleneck for the lunch, while Mr Trudeau wore a grey suit and light-blue shirt.
“During his time as prime minister, we met multiple times as fellow leaders, and when I visited Canada, we worked together to strengthen bilateral relations, including formulating the ‘Japan-Canada Action Plan’, sweating it out side by side,” Mr Kishida, 68, said. “I am delighted that we continue to maintain this friendship in this way.”
Mr Trudeau, 53, reposted the picture on X, writing: “Great to see you… Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko.
“Thank you, Fumio, for your friendship and your continued commitment to both the international rules-based order and to a better future for everyone.”
The couple have been in Japan this week for Perry’s Lifetimes tour, where they have watched a sumo-wrestling show and had lunch with the Kishidas.
It marks one of the most formal outings for Mr Trudeau and Perry since the couple were first spotted together in July.
