The first December weekend in Ukraine will bring frosty nights and cool days with no precipitation. Night temperatures will drop below zero, and daytime will stay around zero or slightly above.
According to Sinoptik.ua, Saturday, December 6, is expected to be cold and cloudy, with rare sun breaks; no precipitation is forecast. The wind will be light, and the pressure stable.
Weather for the first winter weekend by region
The eastern regions (Kharkiv, Luhansk) will enter December’s classic: cool by day, frosty at night. Daytime temperature +2…+6 °C, at night -3 °C. No rain is expected; the sky will be mostly cloudy. In the evening and at night, be cautious due to possible first ice on the roads.
The central region (Kyiv, Dnipro) will become the coldest zone: daytime +1…+5 °C, and after sunset the air will drop to -2 °C. In Kyiv, Dnipro, Cherkasy, Poltava, and Vinnytsia, winter will feel stronger due to humidity and wind. Nighttime icing on some road sections is not excluded.
The western regions (Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk) expect relatively mild weather for December: daytime +3…+6 °C, at night to -1 °C. Cloudiness will prevail, with no serious precipitation; in Transcarpathia at night expect barely noticeable cold.
The south (Odesa, Kherson) will remain the warmest region. Daytime +7…+9 °C, at night frosts down to -1 °C. In Odesa, Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Crimea, the weather is milder – suitable for strolls. No rain is forecast; the sky is usually cloudy with periods of clearing.
On Sunday, December 7, the sky will be covered by a gray veil, but the temperature will remain moderate in virtually all regions. In the center it will warm up a bit: daytime around +5…+7 °C, nighttime around -2 °C. In the western regions daytime temperature will be +4…+6 °C, at night to -3 °C. In the south daytime +5…+7 °C, nighttime about +4 °C. The east will stay within +3…+6 °C during the day, -2 °C at night.
After the weekend, the weather may bring moderate warmth, but you should be ready for morning icing on the roads and cold conditions outside.
