White on Madueke, assist and victory over the Bees | Interview | News

Ben White enjoyed his first Premier League start since the opening day of the season as he picked up a clean sheet, assist and the player of the match award in our 2-0 win over Brentford.
An all-action display from the full-back saw him deliver a fine cross for Mikel Merino to head home in the first half. Bukayo Saka settled the contest on 90 minutes to make it 18 unbeaten across all competitions.
Following the win in N5, Ben said he enjoyed returning to playing at Emirates Stadium, adding, “It was nice. Obviously, three points are the most important thing today. Last week was a big week and you need to follow up the following week, so it was really important to win.”
Ben was playing with Noni Madueke on the right-hand side, and the pair linked up well in the opening exchanges, causing problems for the Brentford backline, which led to the opening goal.

White was impressed with Noni’s contribution to the team since arriving from Chelsea, stating: “He’s come to the team and it’s no different than playing with Bukayo [Saka]. So it was nice to get out there and win and play.”
As Ben came off the pitch after a hard-earned clean sheet, supporters sang his name, something which delighted our England defender.
He said: “Amazing. It’s like any game that we win, it’s so important for us and we’re just going to take it game by game. I’ve missed it. Obviously, I had quite a long time out. I had a few issues with my knee. So it was nice to get it done tonight.”
