Jason Momoa as ‘Lobo’ in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, starring Milly Alcock
Milly Alcock had been revealed as ‘Supergirl’, a.k.a, ‘Kara Zor-El, in the 2025, Superman movie by James Gunn. Her cameo in the movie had garnered a lot of hype since people found her portrayal of ‘Supergirl’ to be comic-book-accurate. The few-second glimpse of the anti-hero, ‘Lobo’, has everyone geared up to watch Jason Momoa bring this complex DC character to life on-screen.
Has Jason Momoa left the Aquaman franchise?
‘Aquaman’ is a significant character of the DC Extended Universe. Essayed by Jason Momoa, the ‘King of the Seas’ first made his cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Then he was seen in Justice League. Following this, the character got its own two films, Aquaman and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. However, now that Jason has become the face of ‘Lobo’, things could get confusing if one actor plays a superhero and a villain in the same franchise. Although Jason is going to stay with DC Studios, he won’t be returning as ‘Aquaman’.
Jason Momoa has traded in his superhero and clean-cut role of ‘Aquaman’ to play the ruthless anti-hero, ‘Lobo’. He has left the DC Extended Universe and has become a part of James Gunn‘s DC Universe, which started in 2025 with Superman. Jason definitely manifested being cast as ‘Lobo’ since even during the press tour of Aquaman, he had expressed interest in the role of anti-hero, calling it ‘perfect’. He had said:
“So Lobo was… I collect comics, and I don’t do so much anymore, but he was always my favorite, and I always wanted to play Lobo, because I’m like, ‘Hello? It’s the perfect role’. I mean, listen. If they call and ask me to play him, it’s a f*ck yeah. I haven’t received that call, so I don’t want to put any fake news out there, but if they ever call me and ask me to play, or ask me to audition, I’m there.”
More about the complex villainous character of ‘Lobo’
‘Lobo’ was introduced as an interstellar bounty hunter in the ’80s. He is loud, merciless, and has a huge kill count. ‘Lobo’ shockingly destroyed his once peaceful planet, ‘Czarnia’, and harmed his own people. Therefore, he was initially portrayed as a ruthless villain with no conscience. However, over time he became an anti-hero in the comics. But what is most interesting is what significance ‘Lobo’ has in the upcoming Supergirl movie. The alien bounty hunter has been described as extremely unpredictable. So, he could help out ‘Supergirl’ or turn against her, too.
