It’s the turn of 2021 world champion Gerwyn Price to begin his bid for a second PDC crown on Tuesday with eight more first-round clashes on the menu at Alexandra Palace.

Price meets Adam Gawlas in day six’s penultimate match following the introduction of sixth seed Danny Noppert in the evening session.

Former Ally Pally semi-finalists Scott Williams (2024) and Chris Dobey (2025) are the standout names in the four matches taking place in the afternoon in north London.

Paddy Power World Darts Championship day six acca

Alan Soutar to beat Teemu Harju

Alan Soutar is a winner on the PDC Tour and has twice made the last 16 at Alexandra Palace. He should be too streetwise for World Championship debutant Teemu Harju.

Ricardo Pietreczko to beat Jose de Sousa

Jose de Sousa is not the force he was a couple of seasons ago and this should be a good opportunity to progress for Ricardo Pietreckzo, who is in form and did reach round four last year with wins over Gian van Veen and Scott Williams.

Danny Noppert to win 3-0 vs Jurjen van der Velde

This all-Dutch affair should be routine work for Danny Noppert, who has been one of the most consistent players on the PDC Tour. Noppie has made the semi-final in four of the last eight Majors and can put in another dominant display.

Alan Soutar vs Teemu Harju

Some players have a knack of delivering on the big stage and that is the case for firefighter Alan Soutar, who can give Teemu Harju a nightmare first experience at Alexandra Palace.

Soutar is a winner on the PDC Tour and has twice made the fourth round at Ally Pally, doing so in 2022 and 2023 before last year’s first-round exit to Kai Gotthardt.

However, world number 163 Harju looks firmly out of his depth, having sealed his World Championship debut with victory at the inaugural Nordic & Baltic Championship.

Soutar thrives under pressure and relishes the atmosphere so that should carry him to a convincing success against Harju, whose last PDC Tour appearance ended with a 6-0 whitewash at the hands of Dirk van Duijvenbode at European Tour 7 in May.

Ricardo Pietreczko vs Jose De Sousa

Jose De Sousa has plummeted down the rankings since making the fourth round of the World Championship in 2023 and The Special One’s stay at Alexandra Palace this year could be short lived.

De Sousa was fortunate to seal his spot in the tournament, surviving five match darts in a 7-6 win over Andy Boulton in the final round of the Tour Card Holder qualifier, and he has lost nine of his last 12 matches in Players Championship events.

His opponent Ricardo Pietreczko is a big improver with steely nerve and he enjoyed a run to the last 16 of the Players Championship Finals in November, performing with serious credit in a 10-6 loss to Luke Littler following victories over William O’Connor and Gary Anderson.

Pikachu made round four of last season’s World Championship, posting wins over Gian van Veen and Scott Williams before being outclassed by Nathan Aspinall, and he looks a worthy favourite given De Sousa’s inconsistencies and regular lapses in concentration.

Scott Williams vs Paolo Nebrida

Scott Williams has noticeably been struggling with the release of his darts in recent months and that is far from ideal for a player who relies on feel and rhythm.

Williams was beaten 6-0 by Josh Rock when last in action at the Players Championship Finals last month and things could get sticky against Paolo Nebrida, who defeated Jim Williams and Ross Smith on his way to round three last year.

Nebrida, nicknamed Pow, is an extremely steady operator and, although Williams was a World Championship semi-finalist two years ago, he looks a long way off that level currently.

Niko Springer vs Joe Comito

Niko Springer won his maiden PDC ranking title at the Hungarian Darts Trophy in September and did so in style, overcoming powerhouses Gian van Veen, Damon Heta, Rob Cross, Luke Humphries, Josh Rock and Danny Noppert.

The German crashed out to Scott Williams in round one last year, losing 3-1 despite averaging 98.92, but he should find things much easier against Australia’s Joe Comito.

Comito limped to a 3-1 defeat in round one against Thibault Tricole last year, averaging just 81.25, and this test should be far tougher than what he is used to competing with on the DPA ProTour.
