Steam’s final sale of the year is just about here, and it’ll include discounts on a bounty of great games based on what’s shown in the trailer alone. The Steam winter sale will start Dec. 18 at 1 p.m. EDT and run through Jan. 5, 2026. Except to receive a big ol’ email on Thursday showing you just how many games on your wishlist are getting discounts.

Some of the year’s best games will be on sale, including the GOTY-nominated Hades 2 and Kingdom Come: Deliverence 2. Dispatch, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Borderlands 4, Elden Ring Nightreign, and Megabonk are also top-notch 2025 releases that are set to be discounted. Sony PC ports The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 are featured in the trailer as well. Eager shoppers will know the full extent of the winter sale when it begins Thursday afternoon.

For PC gamers, Steam’s quarterly sales are often the best times to purchase games, whether we’re talking about brand-new titles being discounted for the first time or older releases ripe for an addition to your backlog. Expect plenty of older games on your wishlist to receive discounts so steep that the titles end up being cheaper than a cup of coffee.

While Steam’s sale gets most of the attention this time of year, other platforms are also having year-end sales. You can snag great games for cheap during the Epic Games Store’s holiday sale, like Battlefield 6 and Cyberpunk 2077. The same can be said for GOG’s winter sale, which boasts over 8,000 games on sale, like Hollow Knight: Silksong and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
