UAE weather: Hail, rough sea alerts issued; lowest temperature 19ºC in Dubai, Abu Dhabi

UAE skies will remain partly cloudy to cloudyn on Thursday, December 18, accompanied by some convective clouds over scattered areas of the country.

Unstable weather conditions will continue, with different intensities of rainfall accompanied with lighting and thunder and hail over limited areas in the country. The turbulent weather is expected to continue into Friday, December 19, 2025.

Residents can also expect moderate to fresh winds, strong at times with clouds, causing blowing dust and sand with a deterioration in horizontal visibility.

Temperatures will range between 19ºC and 28ºC in Abu Dhabi, 19ºC and 27ºC in Dubai, and 18ºC and 27ºC in Sharjah. The mercury will drop to 9ºC in the northern part of the country.

Conditions at sea will be rough to very rough in the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea as the storm clouds make their way to the UAE from the west. The NCM set out alerts for rough sea and hail on Thursday morning, also issuing safety advisories for the public to follow.

A period of low-pressure systems over the Middle East has brought heavy rainfall over the last week. Conditions will intensify on Thursday, with thunderstorms expected to hit the region. While the storm will affect Saudi Arabia during the day, it will move eastwards towards the UAE and Qatar by night, according to BBC Weather.

The UAE’s met department has issued warnings to residents to stay indoors, be cautious and to follow any instructions given by authorities.
