Warriors’ starting lineup vs. Lakers has 1 mystery spot to be decided

The Golden State Warriors open the 2025-26 NBA regular season on Tuesday night in a high-profile clash against the Los Angeles Lakers.

It’s not yet clear exactly who will take the floor as the Warriors’ starting lineup to get the season underway.

According to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Dalton Johnson, “Steve Kerr has decided who his starting lineup will be. No, he isn’t ready to reveal it.”

Nothing like a little bit of mystery.

It’s really all about one spot, though. Kerr has already said on the record that Stephen Curry, Brandin Podziemski, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green will start.

That leaves what looks to be on paper the center position to be announced.

Al Horford is the biggest name center on the Warriors’ roster after signing late in free agency from the Boston Celtics.

The two other traditional bigs on the Warriors’ roster are Trayce Jackson-Davis and Quinten Post.

The Warriors could also opt to start Green at center, which opens up all sorts of options. If Green plays the 5, the Warriors could start Jonathan Kuminga, or Buddy Hield, or the intriguing rookie Will Richard.

Golden State is without Moses Moody and De’Anthony Melton for opening night, shortening their rotation slightly.

It seems Horford is the logical starter, but until Kerr speaks to reporters pregame, it’ll remain an unknown.
