Kagiso Rabada Breaks 119-Year-Old Record Of Most Runs By A No. 11 Batter In Tests For South Africa

Kagiso Rabada entered his name in the history books on Wednesday (October 22) by breaking the record of highest individual score by a No. 11 batter in Test cricket for South Africa. The 30-year-old pacer from Johannesburg came out to bat at No. 11 on Wednesday and scored 71 runs from 61 balls.
He hammered four fours and four sixes during his stay at the crease and added 98 runs from 117 balls for the 10th wicket with Senuran Muthusamy, who remained unbeaten on 89 runs from 155 balls (8 fours).
Before Rabada, the record of the highest individual score in Test cricket by a No. 11 batter for South Africa was in the name of Bert Vogler. Vogler remained unbeaten on 62 runs for South Africa in their first innings of the Cape Town Test played against England in 1906.

The super show by Rabada on Wednesday helped South Africa score 404 runs in the first innings and take a crucial lead of 71 runs.
The overall record for scoring the most runs by a No. 11 batter in Test cricket is in the name of Australia’s Ashton Agar. Agar scored 98 runs from 101 balls against England in Nottingham in the first innings of the Ashes Test in July 2013.
He is followed by Tino Best, James Anderson and Zaheer Khan, who made 95, 81 and 75 runs, respectively.
The knock of 71 runs by Rabada on Wednesday helped him take the No. 5 position in the list of batters with the most runs in an innings after coming out to bat at No. 11 in Tests.

Rabada was sent back to the pavilion by Asif Afridi on the third ball of the 120th over. The left-handed batter tried to play a big shot down the ground but was caught by Abdullah Shafique.
