Putting the image through a reverse image search, the NM team found no official or credible reports featuring it. We also reviewed Virat Kohli’s social media accounts and found no posts containing the viral image.
Upon closer inspection, the facial structures of both players appeared unnatural and digitally altered. To verify further, the image was analysed using Hive Moderation, an AI-based content detection tool, which confirmed that the image is AI-generated.
Thus, it is evident that the image does not show Hazlewood welcoming Kohli to Australia. The image is AI-generated, and the viral claim is false.
